Course in geriatric aide

On April 14, 2003, I entered for a course in caregiving. It was lead by Mrs Renate Steffens. In Germany, the caregiving of needy people will be more and more professionalized.

Subjects had been:

• Ganzheit of human beings
• Conception of resources
• The "Pyramid of needs" (MASLOW)
• AEDL-theory of caregiving (KROHWINKEL)
• Standards of caregiving
• The circle of a caregiving process
• Viewpoints about old aged people
• Taking care of the back while lifting and carrying
• Symptom "confusion"
• ALZHEIMER-disease
• Nutrition
• Hygiene of the body

The practical part of my education had been at the Diakoniestation Köpenick in Berlin. I passed the examination on July 8, 2003.
